Diamedica was delighted to sponsor the second SAFE-T (Safe Anaesthesia for Everyone – Today) Summit in London in April. The summit brought together world experts to discuss the importance of global equity and teamwork to further patient safety in anaesthesia and surgical care.
Keynote speaker was influential advocate for women’s health, Edna Adan Ismail, Founder and Director of the Edna Adan Maternity Hospital in Hargeisa, Somaliland. Diamedica is always given a warm welcome by Edna Adan when we are in Somaliland.
Topics considered at the summit were:
The impact of inequity in access to perioperative and anaesthesia care and safety
Highlight and understand nursing's role in perioperative safety
Consider gender gaps and other barriers to anaesthesia and perioperative safety
Working Together: Teamwork and advocacy in addressing the safety gap
Presentations by world-renowned experts were followed by facilitated group discussions to develop recommendations and identify practical ways forward. Learnings and recommendations from the summit will be published and disseminated internationally as part of the SAFE-T Campaign.
Congratulations to the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) and the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM) who co-hosted this event.
