Portable Baby CPAP

News

January 13th, 2020

Diamedica's latest product, a Portable Baby CPAP device, was shortlisted for the Association of Anaesthetists Award for Innovation in Anaesthesia, Critial Care and Pain 2020. The Diamedica Portable CPAP is a unique solution to the lack of affordable, effective neonatal care available in remote and poor regions of the world.

Diamedica was one of three shortlisted applicants invited to present their innovations at the Association's Winter Scientific Meeting in London on 10 January and received a runner-up award on the day. Our congratulations to SageTech who won first prize for an Automated Extraction Machine that recycles inhalational anaesthetics to reduce costs and prevent pollution.

Diamedica's innovative transport CPAP is battery powered and needs no compressed gases, instead utilizing filtered atmospheric air. It has safety features to prevent damage to the lungs of vulnerable babies, and other common complications making the device simple to use and enabling effective CPAP therapy in even the most basic hospital or health centre.

It is intended for use in the delivery room to support premature babies at birth and during transport to the nearest neonatal intensive care unit. It can also be used to support babies on CPAP during power cuts, when all other standard CPAP devices will stop working.
