Diamedica has an ongoing partnership with Delft University of Technology (Technische Universiteit Delft) in the Netherlands through the Department of BioMechanical Engineering. The lab group led by Dr Jenny Dankelman has a focus on safe global surgery and Diamedica is a key industry partner, providing support for master’s student projects in this area of study.
Kate Loe, Development Engineer at Diamedica, is supervising students working on three design projects for a course called Medical Device Prototyping. Each project involves 2-3 students who must design, build, and test a medical device. In line with Diamedica’s ethos, all three of our projects are aimed at low-resource settings.
We hope this will encourage the next generation of design engineers to focus on creating safe, affordable devices that will meet the needs of healthcare workers in low- and middle-income countries.
