Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and with travel restrictions in place, Diamedica’s biomedical engineers have been stopped in their tracks from delivering vital equipment training within hospitals in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).
Pre-pandemic, Diamedica’s team of biomedical engineers had delivered face-to-face communications with hospital anaesthesia providers, neonatal and intensive care specialists, and had been able to deliver and demonstrate equipment training with a firsthand approach.
With imposed travel restrictions, Diamedica had to adapt to new ways of connecting, ensuring that this vital training continued to be delivered to arm healthcare providers with the tools to deliver safe anaesthesia or oxygen therapy using Diamedica’s equipment.
Since the summer of 2020, Diamedica’s marketing team have introduced a ‘Virtual Training’ programme. Using the popular digital platform ‘Zoom’, a smartphone for recording and a video training suite to provide a live stream direct to the hospital. Biomedical engineers have delivered training across Diamedica’s entire equipment range including, the Glostavent® Helix Anaesthesia Machine, Diamedica Baby CPAPs, Oxygen Concentrators and Reservoir Systems and Monitoring Systems.
