One million people in the Mongolian countryside cannot have emergency surgery because doctors do not have anaesthesia machines that will operate in locations lacking reliable electricity or oxygen. Every year thousands of Mongolian people die or are left with severe avoidable injury.
Safe Anaesthesia for Mongolia (SAM) is crowdfunding to supply five Diamedica Portable Anaesthesia Machines (DPA02) that will enable emergency treatment for up to 100,000 people living in and around five towns in the Steppes and the Gobi Desert.
The Diamedica portable anaesthesia machines are ideal for these locations, as they can function anywhere, even in the most hostile conditions, without electricity or oxygen.
