A Further Extraordinary Year 2021

News

December 7th, 2021

In January this year I reflected on ‘An Extraordinary Year – 2020’, many of the highs and lows that I mentioned continue to cause some difficulties as we approach 2022.

As a company, rotating home working for staff and maintaining social distancing where possible is not an ideal way of working. However, I am immensely proud of Diamedica staff that have developed expertise in maintaining team cohesion, providing support and assistance to each other whilst continuing their high work ethic and customer support, as well as their sense of humour.

The COVID-19 situation in the wider world is out of balance with some high-income countries having extensive Covid vaccination rates, sadly the majority of Diamedica’s customers are located in countries where vaccination rates are still in very low. The WHO quote ‘nobody is safe until everyone is safe’ must be remembered and we are reminded of that with the spread of the latest variant, Omicrom.

As a consequence of the measures to combat the spread of COVID-19 many of the advances in global health have been set back. Improvements in maternal and child health, HIV and TB treatment and timely access to surgery as well as many other areas have been adversely affected.

There is some positive news in that global health inequalities have received more attention in the last 18 months than they have in many years and there has been an increase in financial support to address those inequalities. The vital task now is to ensure that that awareness results in positive long-term change and that the additional funding is used wisely on sustainable solutions.

For the last 17 years Diamedica (UK) Ltd has been designing, manufacturing, supplying and maintaining medical equipment specifically produced for use in challenging environments and areas with limited resources.

The company develops award winning products based on direct experiences and feedback from the field it also provides training and supports the user for the life of its product.

Diamedica (UK) Ltd remains focussed on providing the most suitable products and support to its customers, partners and friends across the world.
